In that one episode, Bart got famous for saying "I didn't do it!" on the Krusty show. But then if you go back to the first season, it was established that one of Krusty's own catchphrases was "I didn't do it!" also.
In that same episode, they established that Krusty had his own line of pork products, and then later it turned out that he was Jewish. Also he was illiterate, but a flashback later showed that he read the news about the Eastern boycott of the Summer Olympics in 1984. And it's kind of hard to believe that a strict, educated father like Rabbi Krustofsky would raise an illiterate son.
I think Krusty died after the first season, and they replaced him with a second Krusty.
